Dr. Joe Hayden is a former television news writer, reporter and producer. He has taught writing for more than 20 years and published two books on the subject: The Little Grammar Book (Marion Street Press, 2012) and a companion volume dedicated to style, The Little Style Book (Marion Street Press, 2015). In 2008, he received the Thomas W. Briggs Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 2015, Dr. Hayden received a Faudree Professorship, a 3-year appointment. He has also taught in Mainz, Germany and in Cairo, Egypt.
Dr. Roxane Coche is a sports journalist turned university professor. Born and raised in France, she worked as a freelance sports reporter and producer in Paris for three years, collaborating with several TV networks. Her main employer was Eurosport, the European leader in sports media. Dr. Coche led 14 U of M students to Brazil in the summer of 2016 to cover the Rio Olympic Games.
William Johnson is the media specialist for the communication department at the University of Memphis. His duties also include directing the department of journalism’s newscast and providing training for students on the operation of studio and field equipment. Mr. Johnson’s professional experience as a journalist, photographer, videographer, and editor expands 20 years.
